Common questions

Before you call

Do I need to come into the office?

Only if you want to. Many clients never visit: documents go through the secure portal, we talk by phone, and signatures are electronic. If you prefer to sit down together, book a time and come by the office in Arkansas City.

How do I get my documents to you?

Upload them to your SmartVault portal from a computer or the mobile app, or drop them at the office and we will scan them for you. Please do not email Social Security numbers, account numbers or photos of tax forms.

What does a tax return cost?

Fees are quoted before work begins and written into your engagement letter. The price depends on the forms involved and how complete your records are, not on how long you talk to us.

How long will my return take?

It depends on the time of year and whether anything is missing. When your documents arrive we give you a target date, and we tell you right away if we need something else.

Do you prepare Oklahoma returns?

Yes. Plenty of our clients live on one side of the state line and work or own property on the other. We handle Oklahoma resident, part-year and nonresident returns alongside the Kansas and federal filings.

Can you handle my farm?

Yes. Farm returns are a core part of the practice: Schedule F, depreciation on equipment and buildings, crop insurance deferrals, farm income averaging and the March 1 filing option.

I got a letter from the IRS. What should I do?

Do not ignore it and do not panic. Upload it to the portal or bring it in. Most notices are a mismatch or a missing form, and a written response fixes them. We can also talk to the IRS for you with your authorization.

Do you work in QuickBooks Online?

Yes. We can set up a new file, clean up an existing one, or keep the books monthly. If you already have QuickBooks Online, we work directly in your company file with accountant access.

How do I pay?

Invoices arrive by email from PayPal and can be paid by card or PayPal account with the button in the email. You can also use the Pay page on this site, or drop a check at the office.

Is my information secure?

Your documents live in SmartVault with encryption and two-step verification, signatures are collected electronically inside that portal, and we never ask for sensitive details by email. The firm keeps a written information security plan as required of tax preparers, and clients receive our privacy notice each year.
